Fishermen's Day to be celebrated in Gaafaru this year

The government has decided to hold the Fishermen's Day festivities in Kaafu Atoll Gaafu this year.

Today, the Fisheries Ministry said that the government has decided to host the celebrations at an island close to Male' City to minimize the expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And so, the opportunity to host Fishermen's Day will not be opened for applications.

Last year, the Fishermen's Day in the Maldives was celebrated virtually due to COVID-19.

Fisheries Ministry said that a decision was made to host the Fishermen's Day after discussing it with the Gaafaru Island Council.
