Maldives Police Service has start an investigation in to the sexual assault of a 14-year-old child in the Huvadhu Atoll.

Police today said that the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl was reported from Huvadhu Atoll, which consists of Gaafu Dhaalu and Gaafu Alifu Atolls, on Sunday.

While no arrethave been made so far, police said that they are investigating the case with the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.

A similar case of sexual abuse of a child was recently reported in Addu City and a police officer was arrested regarding that case last night after a number of people gathered near the residence of the accused calling for his arrest.
