A patient seeking Covid-19 treatment has passed away, marking the 227th death in the island nation.

ONE Online learned that an elderly patient from R. Kandholhudhoo who was being treated at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility has passed away.

So far, a total of 227 COVID-related deaths have been reported in the Maldives that consists of 211 locals and 17 foreigners.

The highest number of COVID deaths were reported in the country in May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported on the 25th alone. The first COVID-related death was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
