The state of National Health Emergency in the Maldives has been extended by another month.
Extending the National Emergency, the Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem signed and issued a decree stating that the 20 days of the State of Emergency declared on 12 March 2020 under the authority of the Office of the Minister of Health has been extended to 1 October 2021.
The last extension of the State of Emergency expires today.
Minister Naseem further said that the extension has been made under the advisement of the Director General of Public Health as the dangers of further spread of COVID-19 in the country still exists and to place further measures to prevent and control the pandemic.
The decree also orders the Director General of Public Health to continue setting regulations based on the state of the public health.
