Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said that Farukolhufushi, the suggested picnic island by Malé City Mayor, Mohamed Muizz is now part of Hulhumalé Phase II.
Speaking to One Online today, Media Officer at HDC Ali Mashar said that Farukolhufushi is currently being used as a Covid-19 facility.
He further added that Hulhumalé Phase II was reclaimed with Farukolhufushi, making the island a part of Hulhumalé Phase II.
Mashar revealed that the event space that was previously used at Farukolhufushi now serves as a Covid-19 Facility, adding that the space is a green space now. He added that there is a plan for the area, which is yet to be implemented.
HDC's statement comes at a time when Malé City Mayor had stated that the council thinks Farukolhufushi should be made into a picnic island, though the final decision rests in HDC.
