An elderly deceased person who was taken to the Emergency Room Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has tested positive for COVID-19.
ONE Online learned that a 74-year-old woman found motionless at a residential house in Male' City was taken to IGMH was confirmed dead on arrival.
Current regulations state and all deceased are also tested for COVID-19. And so, the elderly deceased was also tested and was confirmed positive for COVID-19.
So far, a total of 227 COVID-related deaths have been reported in the Maldives that consists of 210 locals and 17 foreigners.
The highest number of COVID deaths were reported in the country in May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported on the 25th alone. The first COVID-related death was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
