Two employees not Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been suspended in connection to a major theft from one of their warehouses.
Managing Director of MWSC, Hassan Shah told One Online today that they looked in to a situation where a lot of items from a warehouse was missing and found things worth between MVR 400,000 to 500,000 were stolen.
Shah said that they looked in to missing brass lockables to find some had been used without authority and an employee from the warehouse and another from Inventory are suspected of being involved hence they have been suspended until the case is resolved and the Maldives Police Service has been notified.
There have been no comment from the police regarding the case so far.
Managing Director Shah said that one of the employees suspended under suspicion had worked in the company for over 15 years while the other had worked for about five years and both are trusted employees in the company.
The theft inside MWSC has been reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) by an independent citizen.
