Three people have been arrested for kidnapping and torturing a 17-year-old in Shaviyani Atoll Lhaimagu.

Media officer of the Maldives Police Service told One Online today that three people were arrested in Lhaimagu with a court order last night for kidnapping a 17-year-old boy.

The mother of the child told One Online yesterday that three men kidnapped her son on Sunday night. And when he returned later in the night, he had cigarette burns and bruises with signs of torture.

She further said that according to her son, he was tortured by a group of about ten people for informing the police about them.
