President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that Maldivian nationals residing in Sri Lanka will be getting Aasandha Insurance services starting from 1 April 2019.

The President said this while addressing Maldivian nationals residing in Sri Lanka. President Solih is currently on his ongoing visit to Sri Lanka for the occasion of the country’s 71st Independence Day on the invitation by the President of Sri lanka, Maithripala Sirisena.

The President also said that the Maldivian government is currently working towards  arranging the provision of Aasandha Insurance services for Maldivian nationals residing in other neighboring countries as well. As such, the President reported that discussions are ongoing with the respective authorities of other countries.

The President also noted that while Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka had requested a solution to the issue of student loans on his previous visit, the matter had also been addressed.

While President Solih departed in this official visit to Sri Lanka today, he is set to meet Sri lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. The leaders of Maldives and Sri lanka are said to hold official talks during this visit. Discussions will reportedly be held regarding strengthening ties between the two nations in various areas.
