President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that arriving at the new normal should not be a cause to abandon care and think that the danger of the COVID-19 has passed.

The President made the remark at the special assembly at Rehendhi School this morning to commemorate the new Academic Year.

In his address, the President highlighted that although the Maldives has managed to gain sufficient ground against COVID-19 to start a new Academic Year, some the situation in some countries are still at critical and under lock down with businesses and transport suspended.

He said that we should not believe that the threat of COVID-19 has passed and must be vigilant that the virus may come back again.

President Solih said that it is important for the parents, teachers and the students to follow the preventive measures set at the schools to ensure that the new normal can be sustained.
