Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has said that a lot of work is required for the independent institutions to gain the trust of the general public.

He made the statement in a tweet sent it last night in conjunction with the 13th anniversary of the current Constitution coming in to effect.

The Attorney General, in his tweet said that the current Constitution demands accountability through a system of separated powers of the state and so the independent institutions are an important fundamental as a democratic nation.

Hence, a lot of work is required for independent institutions to gain public trust.

Meanwhile, some political figures and members of the public has raised questions regarding the work of the independent institutions.

Criticizing independent institutions, the MP for Feydhoo constituency, Mohamed Nihad said that the independent institutions need to be held accountable and the Parliament Committee for independent institutions need to do that part.
