Spokesperson of the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC), Dr. Nazlaa Rafeeq has said that the COVID-19 vaccination for children will be starting this month and the vaccine administered will be the Pfizer vaccine.

Speaking at the HEOC press conference today, Dr. Nazlaa said that th vaccination for children over the age of 12 will be announced next week.

She said that the Pfizer vaccine is set for children between 12 and 17 years old along with, pregnant women, women who got pregnant after the first of Covishield, women who got pregnant prior to any COVID vaccination, immunocompromised people and those who received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine abroad.

Dr. Nazlaa said that the Pfizer vaccine will be given to students travel abroad for studies.

While the Pfizer vaccine is currently out of stock in Maldives, the HEOC has said that a shipment will be arriving this month but has yet to specify how many doses will be arriving.
