Haa Alifu Atoll Thakandhoo has been placed under monitoring after a person who consulted at the Thakandhoo Health Center tested positive for COVID-19.

President of the Thakandhoo Island Council, Hussain Naeem told One Online that the person consulted a doctor at the Health Center on Tuesday and a sample was taken then for testing. The results came in today.

Council President Naeem said that the 52-year-old woman who tested positive does not have a travel history. And so, since a person who is not in quarantine and without a travel history has tested positive, inquiries are being made and contact tracing is underway.

The recent surge of COVID-19 in the country were vastly controlled with strict measures. However, with those who have completed the vaccine doses being allowed to travel without a quarantine, there has been an uptick in the number of cases.
