A decision has been made to resume COVID-19 vaccinations on Saturday at six centers in Male' City.

Speaking during a press conference at the Health Emergency Operation Center, Immunisation Program Manager Nashiya Abdul Ghafoor said that starting next Saturday, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered at six different vaccination centers in Male' City.

She also added that the first and second dose vaccinations have begun in the atolls yesterday.

Nashiya also said that they have decided to administer the AstraZeneca vaccine to people who go the first dose of Covishield vaccine.

The Covishield vaccine that was administered in Maldives is also part of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Both vaccines are created using the same formula.

A huge vaccination program is expected to kick off in Male' area starting next Saturday, where vaccinations will be administered at six centers in Male'.
