Discussions held for more flights to Maldives from Russia, Eastern Europe

Discussions held to start more flights to the Maldives from Russian and Eastern European airlines.

The discussion were held with the Maldivian tour operators in Russia, Resort Life Holidays, and Red Wings Airlines at a meeting where the Tourism Minister, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom attended.

Direct flights between Moscow and Maldives were discussed at the meeting and tourism information on the Maldives was presented to the Red Wings Airlines operator, Zia Tours and the CEO of Zhukovsky International Airport in Moscow, Thomas Vayshvilla.

Following the discussion, a MoU was signed between the Red Wings Airlines operator, Zia Tours. At the meeting, Tourism Minister Mausoom highlighted the importance of the Russian market to the Maldivian tourism and said that Russian tourists are being happily welcomed to the Maldives and thanked the Russian travel trade partners for their efforts.

On 22 July, Resort Life held discussions with Nordwind Airlines with the Tourism Minister's attendance, to discuss the opportunities for the airlines in the Maldives. And highlighted that the government wants flights to Gan International Airport.

These meetings were also attended by the CEO of Villa Hotels, Ibrahim Siyad Wasim and Business Development Director of Villa Hotels, Murad Hassan.

Russian tourists visiting the Maldives have been in the rise this year with 23.8 percent tourists to visit the country being Russian tourists.
