The monitoring status on Haa Alifu Atoll Dhihdhoo has been lifted and returned to normal.

Dhihdhoo went under monitoring on 24 June 2021 after a foreigner who consulted at the island's flu clinic tested positive for COVID-19.

Manager of the Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital in Dhihdhoo, Usman Ashraf said that the monitoring status on the island was lifted last night, three days before the island would have spent a month under monitoring.

In the past month or so,146 people have tested positive from Dhihdhoo and there are 46 active cases on the island. The monitoring status was lifted after zero positive cases on the random samples for the past two weeks, according to Usman.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country has gone down after a period of high number of cases in the atolls.

Latest statistics from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show 15 islands still under monitoring.
