Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the current administration list the majority support of Male' City due to its own actions.

The government coalition lost a number of seats to the opposition PPM in the Male' City Council while a PPM member got elected for City Mayor.

Responding to an Indian news channel, former President Nasheed said that numerous seats were lost because MDP members did not go out to vote. He said that the members didn't go to vote because the government went against their thinking and beliefs and were unhappy about it.

Accusing the government of acting on behalf of a minority, Nasheed said that the government needs to correct the course quickly.

In the interview, the former President expressed interest in being President again. And so, when asked if he'd run for President, Nasheed said that he has always maintained that he has not stepped out of politics and is ready for all elections, including the Presidential Election.
