Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to host the Group D matches of the South Asia Zone on the Maldives next month.

Both the Maldives and Bangladeshi took part in the last bid to host the Group D matches.

While the Maldives had won the bid the last two times as well, the matches could not be held due to the COVID-19 situation.

According to the fixtures, the first match the Maldives will be on 15 August where the India's Bangalore team would face Club Eagles from the host nation in the playoffs. The winner of that match would win the last spot on the Group Stage.

The teams currently on Group D are ATK Mohun Bagan FC from India, Bangladeshi champions, Bashundhara Kings and th the Maldivian champions, Maaziyaa FC.

Group D matches of the AFC Cup South Asia Zone will be held on 18, 21 and 24 of August 2021.
