Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that the Maldives is among the 10 recipient countries of the 11 million Covid-19 vaccine doses being donated by Japan.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said that under the Covax Facility, the Japanese government has decided to donate 11 million vaccine doses to 10 countries. He thanked Japan for including the Maldives among the 10 recipient countries.
However, the Foreign Minister nor the government has revealed when the Maldives will be receiving the vaccine.
While Maldives had been continuing it's vaccinations and easing restrictions, a shortage in vaccine stock led the country to temporarily discontinue the vaccination program.
However, after the resumption of the vaccination program, the total number of people who has had their first dose is now at 318,756 while 235,615 people have completed their second dose.
