Former President and Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has said that political alignment with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is no longer possible.

In a message sent to a Whatsapp group of MDP, Speaker Nasheed said that the relationship between him and President Solih is good and stressed that there would never be problems between them. However, he noted that there are ideological differences between him and the President.

Speaker Nasheed said that there was nothing to be done, even though some members of MDP might not be okay with this. He also added that if PPM and former President Abdulla Yameen choose a moderate Islamic policy, he would ask for their assistance.

Speaker Nasheed also appealed to all MDP members to refrain from doing anything that may harm President Solih.

He further stressed that he does not want to be politically aligned with the current government, even if that meant that he could never win the Presidency again.
