State Electric Company (STELCO) has installed 17 transformers to power the Hiyaa Flats in Hulhumale' Phase 2.
Media Official of STELCO told One Online today that the Medium Voltage Network of Hulhumale'Phase 2 has been energised and the transformers are now live.
The transformers will have about ten cables from every Hiyaa Flat tower totaling about 188 cables before the flats are powered.
Powering Hiyaa Flats were initially contacted to a Chinese company but faced challenges in installing transformers after importing them. According to the Housing Minister, Mohamed Aslam, it is because the transformers lose their warranty if someone else installed them.
