The MP for Maduvvari constituency, Adam Shareef Umaru has filed a resolution at the parliament calling on the government to fast-track the punishment for rapists and sex offenders.

Presenting the resolution this morning at the parliament floor, MP Shareef said that the punishments for sex crimes are being delayed without an adequate response to the alarming number of rapes and sex crimes continue to increase.

He said that these crimes, at times, are not being prosecuted and buried which has led to an increase in this types of crimes.

MP Shareef said that his resolution calls for a systemic plans and changes to reduce sex crimes, get justice for the victims of these crimes and fast-track the punishment of those who are committing the heinous crime of rape.
