Yesterday alone, a total of 23 peothave tested positive for COVID-19 in Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo.

The island has been under monitoring since 12 May after the a fishing boat captain tested positive.

Manager of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital, Shareef Ahmed told One Online today that 23 people tested positive from the island yesterday raising the total number of cases in the island to 77. And 55 of those cases are active cases.

He said that they are all linked to the cluster from the fishing boat. And despite the number of cases, there has been no serious development so far and no one has had to be treated at the facility.

Due to the situation in Kooddoo, both Maamendhoo and Kolamaafushi in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll are under monitoring as well. And one person connect to the Kooddoo cluster has tested positive in Kolamaafushi while 11 cases were found in Maamendhoo; five people have recovered so far.

All islands in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll are currently under monitoring aside from Dhevvadhoo Kanduhulhudhoo.
