The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country has risen to 212 after an elderly woman has passed away at the COVID treatment facility in Gaafu Alifu Vilingili.
The Manager of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital, Shareef Ahmed told One Online that an 81-year-old local woman passed away at the COVID Facility at 4:55 a.m. this morning.
The woman was taken to the facility after her health status dropped on 3 June.
So far, 195 locals and 17 foreigners have passed away due to the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives.
The highest recorded COVID-related deaths on a single day so far was on 25 May 2021 with 13 deaths.
Maldives reported its first COVID-related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
