Businesses will be allowed to operate during non-curfew hours starting July 1 in the Greater Male' Region.

Speaking during a press conference held at the President's Office, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the government has decided on easing the strict restrictions in Male' area as the covid numbers have seen a significant decrease.

President Solih said that the ease of restrictions is being given after discussing with health experts and the HEOC as well. Restrictions will be lifted starting this Thursday.

With the ease of restrictions, dine-in at restaurants will now be permitted while all businesses are also allowed to operate during non-curfew hours.

The President noted that the priority is to revive the economy by letting businesses operate, however he noted that any measures needed to be taken to control Covid-19 will be implemented.

Curfew hours have also been reduced with the new curfew starting at 8:00pm. A pass is also no longer required to go outside during non-curfew hours.
