An announcement has been made to find consultancy service to develop a transit hotel at the Maafaru International Airport in the Noonu Atoll.
Island Aviation Services Limited, who operates the airport, announced that they require consultancy to develop a four-star 47-room transit hotel with two floors on land of 966 square feet.
They said that local companies interested in the project may reach out via email before 1 July and the information session for the project will be held online.
Maafaru Airport, located near three top-level resorts, began operations in late 2019. However, the airport did not become an international airport until 1 July 2020.
Although it is an international airport that receives a large number of private jets, the airport lacks the runway to facilitate large planes. Island Aviation has previously announced that they would be developing a larger runway this year.
