Speaker of Parliament and Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim said that he believes that there will be a meeting of coalition leaders soon.

Qasim said this at a campaign event of Parliamentary hopeful of a JP ticket, Aishath Nazima. He noted that President Solih is the current leader of the coalition. Qasim said that he hopes that the meeting will be arranged when President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has an available time. He further noted that while JP has not requested for the meeting at a certain time, the party is awaiting the meeting. Qasim said therefore that he believes that the meeting will be arranged soon.

The JP leader noted that there are not that many demands as the Speaker in Parliament during this time.

While there were various meetings of coalition leaders following the beginning of President Solih’s term, there have not been any meeting recently. The coalition was reportedly at odds due to disagreements between parties in terms if how the upcoming Parliament would be divided.
