A MVR 11,000 fined has been imposed on a man in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Neykurendhoo who left his house after testing positive for COVID-19.

A member of the Neykurendhoo Island Council has confirmed to One Online that such a fine has been imposed on a man who left the house.

A source who spoke from the island said that the young man came out of his house without a mask to remove a bicycle that was on the ground in front of their front door. And the man went back inside after removing the bicycle.

This is the first fine on the man who is from a normal family, according to the source from the island.

Government has previously said that some people have totaled their fines at MVR 80,000 and above for repeatedly violating COVID restrictions.
