THe restrtictions in Addu City placed to curb the spread of Covid-19 has been eased in the linked islands except Hithadhoo.

An announcement posted by the Addu City Council noted that all islands that are linked are now able to move freely without the restrictions, except Hithadhoo. The announcement noted that people would be able to goout in public and use vehicles which were previously restricted.

They also highlighted that even though restrictions have been eased, all precatutionary measures advised by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) will still be in effect. As such, people are only allowed to go out for basic necessities while a ban on parties and ceremonies are still in effect. In addition to this, prayer congregations are also still discontinued.

The council also said that inter-household visits are still prohibited while gatherings of more than three people are also still banned.

Some of the restrictions in Hithadhoo has also been lifted, which inluds being able tto go outside for basic necessities without a household permit. However the council confirmed that they will still maintain the curfew from 4:00pm till 4:00am. While Food & Beverage service providers are permitted for deliveries up till 10:00pm, a permit must be obtained to proceed with deliveries during curfew hours.

In addition to this, shops are allowed to operate until 4:00pm, while praying in mosques are still not allowed.

While the case numbers in Addu City overall are decreasing, Hithadhoo has been reporting the highest numbers among the islands.
