Maldives Police Service has said that significant progress had been made in the murder investigation of the 13-year-old boy who was found dead in Hulhumale'.

The dead body was found around 2:30am last night, near the North-Eastern lagoon of Hulhumale' Phase II. The body was found inside a box.

During a press statement today, Chief Superintendent of Police Mohamed Basheer said that the case is being investigated with urgency. He noted that two people have been arrested in relation to the murder and that significant progress has been.

Speaking further regarding the investigation, Chief Inspector of Police Abdulla Rasheed said that yesterday, they had received reports of a child being hurt in Hulhumale Phase II.

He added that Police is currently gaining evidence regarding the murder. The also appealed the public to share any information about the case that they know.
