An inmate at the Maafushi Prison is being treated at state-run IGMH, following an overdose.

Media Officer of Maldives Correctional Services, Aminath Yusreen confirmed to One Online that a prisoner who had overdosed has been transferred to IGMH, where they are being treated.

Yusreen noted that the inmate was transferred to IGMH in Male' City and that the inmate is still being treated at IGMH.

She also added that an inquiry is ongoing on to what caused the overdose and that it wasn't sure whether the inmate overdosed on pills.
