The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 71,709 after 211 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 54 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 132 from the atolls.

In the same time frame, 912 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 66,090 with another 5,403 people still in treatment.

There have been 205 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 189 locals, 16 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020.
