Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla has been summoned and questioned by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security Services over the assassination attempt on former President and Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed.

The 241 committee is conducting a parliamentary inquiry on how the security of President Nasheed was breached, which led to the bomb blast which severely injured the former President.

The Parliament administration confirmed that the Minister was summoned and questioned by the committee today.

However, since the inquiry is classified, further information was not available.

MMA Governor, Ali Hasim along with Deputy Governor Ahmed Imad and Financial Intelligence Unit Chief Ibrahim Ahmed Nasir was also summoned by the committee last Thursday.

Previously, Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shamaal, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameedh, Planning Minister Mohmaed Aslam as well as former Mayor of Male' City, Shifa Mohamed were all summoned and questioned over the terror attack.

President Nasheed was the target of a carefully planned terrorist attack, where a bomb was blasted off as he was about to enter his vehicle. He sustained sever injuries, and has been seeking further treatment in Germany.
