May 2021 has generated MVR 783.88 million to the Maldivian government.

Statistics released by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) show a 16.7 increment above the estimated projections.

MIRA collected MVR 664.7 million as tax last month and MVR 119 millio.

The income in May 2020 went down after the resorts and guest houses were forced to close down amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the government pushed the due date for a number of taxes.

From the collected tax, Goods and Service Tax (GST) makes the largest portion with MVR 496.19 with MVR 53.68 million as Green Tax and 33.44 million as the Airport Development Fee.
