Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 590 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 67,538 after another 590 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 590 people have tested positive including 389 people in Male' area and 195 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 1,603 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 47,333 with another 20,014 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 182 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 167 locals, 15 foreign nationals.
