Maldives Immigration has made a decision to start accepting passport applications via email.

At a press conference on 17 January, the Controller of Immigration, Mohamed Ahmed Hussain (Hanafee) said that the service would be introduced before the end of the year. And so passport applications via email has now been opened.

Passport application has been applied by sending all the required documents to [email protected] and passports will be available after 48 hours. Passports will be issued in Male' City, H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi, Fuvahmulah City, Addu City at specific centers.

Immigration met with the Deputy CEO of BML today to discuss developing a special online portal. Following the meeting, Immigration tweeted that the service will be available very soon.

Online application for passport would make it easier for Maldivians living abroad to renew their passports.
