Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 704 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 65,868 after another 704 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 768 people have tested positive including 407 people in Male' area and 271 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 828 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 41,779 with another 23,909 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 171 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 157 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
