913 people have been fined for violating the restrictions put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Speaking during a press conference held today at the HEOC, President's Office Spokesperson Mabrook Azeez said that there were people who were violating the restrictions which have been introduced to ensure the safety of everyone. He said that this was a concerning matter.

He noted that while the restrictions have had a great impact on everyday life, such violations would cause the public to remain in said restrictions for a longer period of time.

Under their works to ensure that the restrictions are being followed, Police and MNDF fined 208 people for not wearing masks and 631 people for violating the curfew. All of these were within 24 hours.

Mabrook also revealed that 74 business operations such as Cafes, Gyms and Saloons were also found in violation, and that the necessary action has been taken.

Mabrook further added that a special inspection is underway to ensure that business operations are following the HPA guidelines. As such, within 24 hours 142 places had been checked and five places asked to improve as per the standard.
