Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 710 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 64,396 after another 710 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 710 people have tested positive including 488 people in Male' area and 202 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 803 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 40,117 with another 24,109 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 161 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 147 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
