Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 780 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 63,686 after another 780 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 780 people have tested positive including 571 people in Male' area and 205 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 1,081 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 39,314 with another 24,205 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 158 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 144 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
