Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,299 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 60,943 after another 1,299 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,299 people have tested positive including 799 people in Male' area and 487 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 744 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 35,365 with another 25,419 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 150 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 136 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
