Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,004 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 58,345 after another 1,004 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,004 people have tested positive including 835 people in Male' area and 153 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 1,023 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 34,159 with another 24,033 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 144 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 130 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
