The government has decided to introduce economic stimulus packages through Bank of Maldives (BML) in June.

Speaking at the press conference held at the President's Office, President Solih said that the government will be providing aid to the best of their abilities, similar to the previous year.

The President said that soft loans would be given to small business, similar to the past year, that would cover cafés, restaurants, gyms and salons. And stimulus economic loans would be arranged via the BML.

President Solih said that those loans would be arranged next month and a facility of MVR 375 million have been arranged for that purpose.

At the press conference tonight, President Solih said that the main reason the number of COVID-19 cases went up is the ease of restrictions in early April.
