The concluding ceremony of the Parliamentary Campaign Policy Workshop held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has proposed a judicial reform to depower the Supreme Court.

The proposal submitted would enact a judicial reform that allows no authority over the High Court and lower courts.

Attorney at Law, Hisaan Hussain submitted the documents stating judicial reform actions by the upcoming 19th Parliamentary body of Maldives last night.

The policy documents proposed by Hisaan stated that the Supreme Court would no longer be able to take initiative on cases. The proposal also declared the reform to ensure that the Supreme Court cannot command files of cases that are taking place at the High Court or lower courts.

The proposal also stated that the Supreme Court can only be allowed to publicly to pass a sentence for any civil cases.
