Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,417 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 57,341 after another 1,417 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,417 people have tested positive including 1,097 people in Male' area and 303 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 814 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 33,136 with another 24,057 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 139 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 125 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
