Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has said that strong winds and rough seas are expected for the next four days as the Southwest Monsoon picks up strength.

The MET Office issued a White Weather Alert in effect from 1:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. today for strong winds and rough seas.

And so, winds between 19-23 mph along with rough seas are expected for the islands from Haa Alifu Atoll to the Vaavu Atoll.

While the MET Office has expected the depression in the Bay of Bengal to evolve in to a storm in the next 24 hours, the storm is expected to move South and Southwest; away from the Maldives.
