Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,960 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 54,365 after another 1,960 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,960 people have tested positive including 1,518 people in Male' area and 431 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 615 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 31,812 with another 22,421 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 123 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 110 locals, 13 foreign nationals.
