Popular BBC podcast host visiting Maldives has received emergency surgery at ADK Hospital.

Famous blogger, personal trainer and popular BBC podcast host, 26 year old Zanna van Dijk had arrived in Maldives for a vacation. Zanna had been staying at Niyama Private Island in Maldives when she was taken to the hospital following stomach cramps. She received emergency surgery at ADK hospital soon after.

Zanna had talked of her experience at ADK Hospital on Instagram and said that she had initially been given various medications. She said that she was transferred to the capital after treatments were seen to not be working.

Zanna shared her story and said that the proper diagnosis -double twisted bowels- were reached at ADK following several tests. She was told she would be having emergency surgery at that time.

The friend who traveled with Zanna, Stephanie Elswood had shared photos of Zanna post-surgery on instagram. Although Zanna had no previously known case of appendicitis, Stephanie had said that Zanna had undergone an appendectomy.

While Zanna has taken to the Instagram story feature to document her recovery in Maldives, it has been reported that she is recovering well.
