Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,007 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 43,782 after another 1,007 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,007 people have tested positive including 793 people in Male' area and 183 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

As per HPA, 0ut of the 1,007 cases being reported today, 821 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 14th May and 6pm of 15th May.

In the same time frame, 341 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 28,013 with another 15,666 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 94 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 83 locals, 11 foreign nationals.
