A number of people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Noonu Atoll Kendhikulhudhoo and Thaa Atoll Guraidhoo.
Both islands were placed under monitoring today.
According to the Island Council, Kendhikulhudhoo was placed under monitoring after a crew of a boat that travels between Male' City and the island tested positive. And while there are three people who traveled on the boat are on the island, two of them have tested positive for COVID.
The Kendhikulhudhoo Island Council said that two random samples taken from the island has tested positive as well.
The first people to test positive in Th. Guraidhoo was the people who went to Laamu Atoll to consult a doctor. While four of those five people have tested positive on the island while an expatriate man working on a boat at the island has tested positive for COVID-19 as well, according to the Guraidhoo Island Council.
The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Male' City has been growing recently with the daily number now reaching past 1,000 as the virus has spread across the country.
